"The Carmel Day School curriculum will provide materials and experiences to stimulate your child's emotional, physical, social and intellectual growth. Listed below are the specific skills we hope your child will develop this year.
As an aid to child development, children shall receive individual attention in the preschool program. They are placed in areas according to development where small staff/child ration is maintained. Our goals for your child are:
developing a sense of self and a sense of autonomy
developing a healthy self image
learning how to get along with a peer group
developing language to produce desired results
Our well trained staff achieves these through:
providing a nuturing environment which stimulates creative thought
following the developmental curriculum based on the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs
maintaining our status as an accredited preschool through NAEYC
Parent/ teacher conferences shall be scheduled twice a year. Conferences may be held at any time by either parents or teachers.
Carmel Day School's discipline Philosophy is based on "catching a child being good". We work on rewarding positive behavior. Upon that rare occasion when a child needs to be removed from a situation where he may cause harm to others or himself/herself, we do use a brief "time out". The child is then reintroduced to the group after he/she understands the positive behavior he/she should use in that situation.
The goal of Carmel Day School is to provide parents with a quality early childhood program for their children. It is our intention to provide a healthy, happy atmosphere so that each child can have the advantage of becoming a well-adjusted, well rounded individual. Parents are encouraged to bring their child's concerns to the attention of the staff. Any assistance that can be provided through available resources shall be given.
