"We believe that young children learn best through play and interaction with their environment. At Hoosier Courts the projects and activities that our children do in the classroom are developed directly from the needs, interests, and concerns of the children themselves . This curriculum is what we refer to as a "child-centered, emergent curriculum". Through this curriculum we hope to provide our children with experiences that will help them to learn to direct their own actions, discipline themselves, and accept responsibility for their deeds.
At Hoosier Courts, we strongly believe that parents and teachers must be partners in the education of children. The word cooperative in our name expresses this belief and our commitment to cooperation between all who work and play at Hoosier Courts. The parents and children and teachers and staff of Hoosier Courts share in the responsibilities of making the school work. Parents co-teach with the professional lead teachers in the classrooms, serve on the parent advisory board, help to clean and maintain the school's facilities and toys, and work to raise funds for the school."
