From the Director:

Currently, Our World uses “The Creative Curriculum” for both preschool and infant/toddler programs. Child development theory and scientific research are the foundation of The Creative Curriculum and are based on the findings of well-know child development experts and psychologists.

Our World strives to meet the needs of all individuals, regardless of any exceptionality. We make reasonable adaptations to our curriculum, teaching strategies, and environment to welcome everyone to our program.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Our World provides quality individualized services for children and older adults in a supervised daytime environment. Educational and therapeutic programming is provided to compliment and enhance the efforts of the holistic family.

Our World’s Child Learning Center is a nationally accredited program through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and licensed through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and provides pre-primary education for children ages six weeks through five years of age. Our World also offers an innovative before and after school program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Our goal is to complement, supplement, and reinforce the efforts of families with young children by providing a safe, modern environment and nurturing staff. Specifically, it is our goal to provide educational opportunities based on realistic expectations for each age group, hands-on, concrete learning experiences and developmentally appropriate programming. Our World provides an environment where families are welcome visitors and contributors to the program and are involved in all aspects of their child’s development. Our World offers opportunities for families and the community to be involved with early childhood education and supports children and families in accepting individuality and diversity. Finally, but most importantly, Our World encourages peer and adult interaction in a positive, constructive, and nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment that is clean, safe, attractive, and spacious.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Research has shown that students, whose parents are involved in their academic life, have higher rates of success and Our World encourages this whenever possible. To facilitate these connections, communication is provided in variety of methods through monthly newsletters, bulletin boards, daily records, notes and conferences. Daily, face-to-face conversations with a student’s primary caregiver are the best forum for open dialogue about the progress of a child’s goals.
