Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Montessori

From the Director:

If a child is interested he will learn. And when interested, his learning will be deep and lasting. Although it may run counter to common experience, the children at Countryside want to go to school. The classrooms are rich with beautiful materials, enticing choices, experienced, dedicated teachers, and other interested learners. This combination creates a powerful experience unlike any other learning environment. The fact is that children needn't be forced to learn; they love to learn. Academic knowledge, though, is just the beginning. The mission of Countryside Montessori School is to assist children in their quest to become responsible, resourceful, and respectful. This mission is shared by parents and teachers alike. Children are hungry to observe and absorb the social graces of their culture. Each family at Countryside has a partnership with the teachers that work with their children, and all contribute to making this mission real. Maria Montessori said: "Character formation cannot be taught. It comes from experience and not from explanation." Countryside Montessori is more than a school. It is a strong community of families with common goals and values. You will feel it the moment you step in the door.

Our fully equipped gym is used daily by the children and is staffed by a fully trained Montessori teacher.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

While in good Montessori schools class size is large, instruction is individualized. The teachers work with our pre-school aged children one on one or in small groups of two or three for every presentation.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

The mission of Countryside is to help your child become respectful, responsible and resourceful.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Countryside is invested in developing a true partnership with the parents. We are looking for parents who believe in our mission, and who are willing to do the hard work that it takes to make it happen. Our teachers have an average tenure of 15 years, so you are getting not only fully certified teachers, but teachers with many years of experience working with children and families. They have the knowledge, training and experience to support families in helping their children develop the strong characters that are needed in today's fast moving culture.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
