In the Early Years program we focus on providing a nurturing, happy, and stimulating environment where young children acquire the essential skills for life-long learning. Speaking articulately and confidently, reading, writing, and working with numbers run alongside the playful development of imagination, confidence, and social and emotional skills, all set in an international context. Children learn through a series of carefully structured and layered experiences that are teacher-directed as well as child-initiated. They learn collaboratively with other children and their teachers through imaginative play, in a carefully planned and dynamic learning environment.

Personalized Learning - Our teachers tailor their instruction and adjust the curriculum to the children's needs rather than expecting the children to modify themselves for the curriculum.

The school's unique, international style has become popular amongst a wide variety of American, British, and international families in the Chicago metro area. Opened in 2001, enrollment has reached over 600 students with over thirty nationalities of students represented. The British School of Chicago prides itself on creating a close liaison between home and school. There are open lines of communication between the school office, teachers, and parents. Parents and guardians are given access to a secure parents' section of the school website which provides access to school news, forms, class contacts, and student report cards. Parents are asked to continue to stay updated through the website as well as through email communications from the school's staff. There are also opportunities throughout the year for Parent/Teacher Conferences.
