Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

" To provide Clarinda children between the ages of 3 and 5 with the opportunity for a preschool education and to promote the social, intellectual, emotional and physical growth of those children. Each school day, we will provide learning experiences appropriate for the developmental age of each group. Positive guidance techniques will be utilized to enhance each child’s feeling of self-worth. Most 3 and 4 year olds are ready for Preschool as it helps satisfy their need for new experiences. Planned daily activities will help the children learn to cooperate, share and listen, stimulate cognitive growth and creativity, stimulate emotional and social development, and help develop large and small motor skills. Our preschool will operate in accordance with all licensing laws of the State of Iowa and will endeavor to provide top quality preschool programs. Each member of the staff will be expected to contribute towards the goals of our preschool.
All learning is done informally. We are careful to present learning activities in such a way that the child who is ready will gain understanding, and the child who is not, will not be left with the feeling that he has failed. Because each child is individual and unique, emphasis is placed on developing a positive self-concept. Kindergarten readiness activities are conducted in an atmosphere of play and include a low-key exposure to letters and numbers, colors and shapes and fundamental concepts. Special features of the program include monthly newsletters, field trips, snacks and opportunities for parent/teacher conferences.
