Free Play & Manipulative
Greet children, prepare attendance information.
(Classrooms are setup with puzzles, beads, pegboards or other small activities for children to begin)
Center Time Learning Activities/Weekly Themes
Different curriculum areas relating to weekly theme (math, language arts, large / small motor development, science, computer, cooking, home living, dramatic play etc.)
Circle Time (start with prayer)
Pledge to flag, weather and calendar activities, Bible verse, sharing, and introduction to new skills in various curriculum areas, show and tell and discussion of plans for the day. Letter person, calendar, weather, memory verse, colors, shapes, addresses, phone numbers, should be part of the Circle Time bulletin board (learning board).
Life application, Bible story, craft etc. related to Biblical theme of the week and to review monthly memory verse.
To improve large muscle development and socialization skills.
A time to enjoy each otherâ€™s company in a relaxed setting while eating.
Creative Movement-Organized play activities to help improve muscle coordination
Chapel-Sharing and learning about God and His love
Music- Learning new songs in addition to singing familiar tunes. Designed to enhance auditory skills.
Spanish-Introduction to foreign language and simple conversational phrases.
Language Arts / Math Activities
Stories, puppetry, flannel board, drama or role playing, songs, letters and numbers, big book activities, counting, sorting, pattern sequencing etc.
Craft and art projects appropriate for the age of children in classroom. Art will be done in individual classrooms.
End of the day time for the whole class that includes a review of the day.
A copy of the daily schedule is posted in each classroom.
Student folders are sent home daily to keep parents in touch with their child's preschool experience and offer ideas that parents may use at home. Evaluations are done on a regular basis and results are communicated to parents by teachers. An annual conference is held for each preschool student. Special conferences are scheduled when needed.
Parenting classes are offered as a ministry of Horizon Baptist Church.
