Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Early Childhood Services offers developmentally appropriate programs to meet the needs of
young children and their families. Challenging and enriching educational experiences are
offered in a safe and nurturing Jewish environment. Activities are designed to promote the
total growth and development of each child. To this end, the following goals have been set
• To prepare children for life's experiences
• To promote a child's Jewish identity and sense of Jewish values through experiential
activities in Jewish customs and rituals and a warm Jewish environment
• To foster an understanding of and a connection to our rich Jewish heritage
• To help a child to feel, to understand, to live and to love Judaism (by participating
in Shabbat and holiday observances, by hearing Jewish stories and music, by playing
with Jewish content supplies and equipment)
• To develop social relations through peer interaction
• To foster a positive self-image and a sense of personal achievement
• To encourage respect for cultural diversity within and outside of Judaism
• To encourage opportunities for independence and success
• To provide opportunities for language and literacy in both English and Hebrew
• To develop cognitive skills such as thinking, reasoning, questioning and
• To encourage creative expression and appreciation for the arts
• To promote sound health, safety and nutritional practices"
