Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

1,2,3's and A,B,C's are only the beginning of what your child will learn at First Academy.Give additional insight on the philosophy of your school's approach to learning here.Music, Physical Fitness, Spanish and Reading Readiness are among the enrichment programs we offer. Our Classrooms are organized into "learning environments" where the children can find the toys, games and materials related by theme, interests and skills. Learning environments are an excellent way to individualize the curriculum to meet the varying needs of young children. We offer a healthy mixture of teacher-directed and child-directed activities which foster independence and optimal development. Most importantly, we will make sure your child is happy, safe and cherished.

Many of our teachers have degrees early childhood education and child development or are currently working toward that goal. We require all of our staff members to be First Aid and CPR Certified. Day in the Life

General School Mission

Our mission is to create an environment that gives children the love, attention, tenderness and opportunities they deserve, offering them a safe environment which allows them to explore and grow. At First Academy, we give children hands-on learning experiences which foster an enthusiasm for learning. We read and sing to the children every day. We believe that positive reinforcement is important for children to develop a positive self-esteem. Children need an environment that supports free expression and stimulates learning. At First Academy, we make sure that every child is involved in stimulating activities every day. Children learn best when they are having fun. Early childhood only comes around once in a lifetime and it is so important that children feel cherished and have fun!

Separation

Handling Separation: From the Director

We are not part of a chain or franchise; we are literally a three-generation, Mom and Pop shop. My husband, Mr. Blake works by my side each day and wears many hats: cook, plumber, office manager, teacher aide, director, and father (we have three children and our youngest daughter, Lucky is 4). Blake is a huge part of our success and you as parents get the benefit of knowing there is almost always an owner on-site. Semi-retired GiGi (Mom) is still in the house at least one day a week. Please come by for a tour anytime and Feel the Love.
