From the Director:

We emphasize a "learning to learn" educational program, allowing the individual child the opportunity to progress at his/her own pace, while at the same time, developing his/her strengths for processing information by training and stimulating all the perceptual modalities. Based on the theory that children learn by doing, classroom programs encourage active involvement in a meaning-centered environment. Tasks are designed with an emphasis on the process rather than the product, fostering a true sense of accomplishment and pride.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

We treat each child as an individual, working from the level each child has attained and moving forward one step at a time. We promote a love of learning by allowing children to experience success with each accomplishment.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

We provide an outstanding opportunity for your child to learn how to learn, to discover new interests and abilities, and to grow as an individual. Our degreed and certified teachers encourage academic, social, and emotional development in an atmosphere where learning is to be enjoyed. As we bridge the gap from home to school, we guide children during their learning experiences, enhancing their feelings of self-worth, empowering them to learn, and ensuring their future school success.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

The parent information board displays the activities of each classroom on a daily basis, plus a brief report on each child's learning and behavioral experiences. Daily communication with teachers and parent conferences are encouraged in order to view each child's assessment portfolio and to discuss each child's accomplishments. Parent Seminars are conducted in the Fall and Spring, providing information to parents concerning their child's development and progress and the Center's prescriptive educational program. Parents are informed as to how their child's educational experiences at Shining Stars will empower them to be successful learners in the school age years and for life.
