General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"It is the philosophy of the Early Childhood Center to welcome families of all faiths, creed,
and ethnic origins to the program. It is our commitment to offer a safe, caring, and stimulating environment
in which children can explore and learn by experiencing creative hands on and age-appropriate activities
presented by a qualified professional staff. Furthermore, it is our goal to establish an organized facility
with open communication between the administration, staff, and parents, which will support a positive
environment for all.

Our staff supports the theory that children learn through play. If learning is relevant for children they
are more likely to persist with a task and to be motivated to learn. The classrooms are arranged to facilitate
independence and help develop children into self-confident, caring and capable individuals. Classrooms are set
up into learning centers in order to encourage children to make choices and learn independently while having
limits set, more by room arrangement than teacher direction. These centers create an area in which children are
introduced to the fundamentals building blocks for reading, writing, mathematics, and social skills.
