Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Teacher-Led

From the Director:

Our curriculum focus is on unit based-learning bringing in the academic disciplines and developmental areas in a thought provoking environment that challenges our children and their natural curiousity in learning based on Piaget.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Teachers are dedicated and work with children using an individualized approach so that each child can develop to his/her full potential. Using multiple intelligences and research-based models of teaching, the teachers are well prepared to bring our children to the next level of learning.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

The LHPSA believes that a quality instructional program that follows the learning standards implemented by the State of Florida as well as the latest techniques in early childhood development will provide value to the Lakeland community. Children should be exposed to a positive and culturally supportable environment that values diversity and sets a moral and ethical standard in the classroom. Children will learn to value the differences and recognize the similarities in others, and thereby demonstrate a healthy outlook of the world.

A Typical Day

A well-planned program and curriculum defines the Lake Hollingsworth Pre School Academy experience. From 7:00 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. we will provide child care as needed. Academics are taught between 8:30 A.M. and Noon. Our children are exposed to five different academic disciplines and four developmental areas. Children have the opportunity for structured and free indoor and outdoor play. Lunch is served from Noon to 12:30 P.M. Rest period or naptime is 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. Center time activities take place from 2:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. with extended care and activities from 4:00PM to 6:00PM.
