From the Director:

We use Creative Curriculum as well as Beyond Centers and Circle-Time. We have lots of sensory exploration on our covered patio. We believe that children learn through self motivated exploration.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

All the teachers here at our preschool have a love for this age and early childhood education. We have stayed constant in our approach and have proven results by watching our children become successfull students in the public and private sector no matter what their learning difficulties may be upon entering our school.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"We believe early childhood is a crucial time to explore the world.
The children at Lake Mary Community Preschool are encouraged to question and experiment.
We believe that children should be taught to respect and accept the cultural diversity found in and around their own community.
We believe that children should be taught to cherish and protect their environment.
Opportunities are planned throughout the year to help the children experience the wonders of nature.
We believe that young children should be taught an awareness of the community in which they live and its special needs.
We believe everyone can make a difference in this world no matter how small.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We are constantly assessing the children's progress and notify the parents immediately of any concerns we may observe during classroom time. We have 3 family days in the Fall, Spring, and Art Night. Parents are always welcome to help out in the classroom. We try to create a community among the parents and the children.

Separation

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
  • Parents in classroom early on

Handling Separation: From the Director

If I have a child who is scared and screaming more than 30 minutes, I will call the parent to come and pick them up. If it happens consistently we will discuss ways to solve the problem. Our school however is so inviting that we have only had one child leave but they returned a year later with no problem.
