"Montessori education begins with a basic faith in the child's ability to create the adult person with respect to individual uniqueness. We believe each child is inner-directed to fulfill potential through interaction with the learning environment. The educator's responsibility in implementing this philosophy rests in preparation of a total environment that will support the child's efforts to grow. Dr. Montessori saw the child as a human who is developing all facets of the whole simultaneously from birth. Therefore, our school includes cognitive development as an integral and equal portion of the child's experience with physical, emotional, and social growth activities. Patterns of concentration, “stick-to-itiveness” and thoroughness, established in early childhood, produce a confident, competent learner in later years. Montessori teaches children to observe, to think, and to judge. It introduces children to the joy of learning at an early age and provides a framework in which intellectual and social discipline go hand-in-hand.
