"The first school experience is a significant one for both children and parents. Consequently, first and foremost, the teachers at the Mandell Jewish Community Center's Early Childhood Centers will welcome your child into a safe, nurturing environment.
Children are naturally curious. The JCC's Early Childhood Centers are built upon the educational philosophy that engages this curiosity, encouraging children to ask questions, express their thoughts with confidence and begin to make sense of themselves and the world around them.
We understand that physical, cognitive, and social development is a continuum that unfolds uniquely for each child. At age two, children are just beginning to understand the physical world and its boundaries. By age three, they begin to blossom beyond parallel play and invite friends into their world. By age four, their intellectual curiosity prepares them for the more structured learning they will experience in Kindergarten.
Children also demonstrate what they know in a variety of ways. Some are more visual, others learn by listening. Still others learn using a number of senses. Through hands on activities, the ECC promotes individual learning styles.
Finally, the JCC mission of perpetuating our Jewish heritage is at the core of the Early Childhood Centers' philosophy. "L'Dor V'Dor" - From generation to generation. Throughout the year we incorporate into daily learning the Jewish values of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and chesed (kindness). It is this foundation that we hope will instill a life-long love of Judaism.
It is our goal to help children develop into competent and secure individuals, as well as responsible members of a group respecting all people. We encourage parents and staff to work together to support the learning and development of each child. The parent-staff partnership is fundamental to our program. You are welcome to come in to your child's classroom any time to see all that we do.
The JCC's Early Childhood Center (ECC) is a nationally accredited early childhood education program.
