Day in the Life

"Early Care Learning Center is a child centered facility, where exposure to natural environments promotes independence while strengthening physical, social, emotional, academic, and aesthetic abilities of children, staff and parents.

A Typical Day

"7:30-9:00 Arrival/Discovery play-Greet families and children individually, store belongings, select a play center.
9:00-9:30 Morning meeting -gather all children from each classroom for story songs, discussion of choices for morning, daily overview.
Free play guide children in selecting interest areas (manipulatives, gross/fine motor activities, conversation, large and small group activities.)
clean up
Bathroom/wash hands
circle Time-Lead children in singing songs, story, discussing weather, reviewing the calender, letters, numbers, etc.
Curriculum Art science, math writing language, etc. Build on children's skills, observe and interact with children to extend learning.
11:15-11:30 classroom clean up- help and facilitate children in putting away materials from choice centers.
11:30-12:15 Lunch-Help children to prepare tables. Encourage conversation about meals/mealtime. Guide children in cleaning up after lunch, wahing hands and face.
12:15-1:00 Outdoor play (weather permitting) supervise and interact with children. Encourage discussion about weather, nature, etc.
Indoor-(story, movie, games)
Rest time preparation-Help children in setting out cots, putting on sheets and blankets.
1:00-3:00 Rest Time-Help the children to relax, rubbing backs, promoting a quiet soothing environment for sleep.
3:00-3:30 Rest time cleanup-Help the children clean up sheets and blankets from cost, putting belongings away.
Bathroom/Wash up
Story/Discussion-Reflect on the day's events and activities.
3:30-5:30 Free Play-Set out choices for children (Computer, manipulatives, library, games, etc.)
Outdoor play (Weather permitting)-Supervise and interact with children.
Departure-Help children in gathering belongings that need to go home, greet families."
