"Our concern at Betsy Ross is for the child and their growth. Our program is designed to respond to the physical, cognitive, emotional
and social aspects of child development. Play is the vital tool which the preschool child uses to learn about themselves and their world.
The children participate in a variety of activities both indoors and outdoors. Various manipulative table activities provide opportunities for problem solving and small muscle development. Daily art projects allow for creative expression where process rather than product is important. The unit blocks stimulate dramatic, social, spatial and mathematical exploration as they create airports, farms and cities. Other special interests are the sand table, the housekeeping area, and reading area. The children also participate in many varied cooking projects such as baking muffins or
preparing a farm breakfast. They also enjoy music, snacks and story time. Our program is child-centered and based on the belief that play is the best way for children to learn. Teachers provide encouragement and support and redirect when necessary."
