Curriculum & Teaching Approach

From the Director:

The only school in America accredited by both the American Montessori Society and the International Baccalaureate (IB), Whitby has been recognized as an innovator in education since its inception in 1958. Whitby's approach encourages students to ask questions and guides them to finding their own answers. The Montessori approach is complemented by the IB, an inquiry-based model that is an international standard of excellence. Students enthusiastically engage in learning, are inspired by their own discoveries and find that there is no limit to what they can achieve. In Whitby's global community of learners they develop the intellectual, emotional and social skills to thrive in today's dynamic and changing world.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

We believe the most effective education is rooted in engaging students in a learning environment filled with opportunities and challenging experiences.

Energetic and highly-trained teachers nurture each child's potential and stimulate a a deep love of learning. The low student-to-faculty ratio gives these experienced faculty the time to provide the individualized attention that maximizes learning.
