Day in the Life

General School Mission

We aim to provide a safe and joyful atmosphere within which each child may develop a positive self-image and a sense of independence. We offer many opportunities for cognitive and motor development, as well as creative expression.

Typical Day at BCNS

AM Class: 9:00-11:30
PM Class: 12:15-2:45

Free Play
â?¢ puzzles
â?¢ tracing
â?¢ cutting
â?¢ coloring
â?¢ books
â?¢ play dough
â?¢ toys
â?¢ may include cutting/preparation with the teacher for a later project

Clean up â?? children put things away and clean up their space

Circle Time
â?¢ lesson/theme of the day
â?¢ calendar
â?¢ weather
â?¢ story
â?¢ music/songs
â?¢ finger plays
â?¢ games
â?¢ flannel board

Snack â?? provided by coop parent

Rotating Activities
â?¢ 3 centers per day
â?¢ Small groups of 4-6 students
â?¢ Groups rotate between one teacher, another teacher and a coop parent volunteer
â?¢ Activities may include art, dress-up room, big room, science, cooking in the kitchen, games, creative movement, academics, etc.

Outside Play â?? swings, slide, boat, sandbox, climbing etc.

Closing and Dismissal


Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions
  • Parents in classroom early on
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year
