Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Joni's Child Care & Pre-School believes that all children are loving, inquisitive beings in a constant state of learning. A careful balance of structured activities, free choice, self-expression and situational teaching provides varied opportunities to learn and develop. Emphasis is placed on process over product and children are encouraged to move toward increasing independence, both socially and academically. Children are encouraged to observe the environment around them, ask questions and offer answers. Children are capable of demonstrating manners and respect for themselves and others. Teachers are facilitators, role models and cheerleaders."

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We allow parents to determine the level of support they need to smoothly transition into program. We offer open door policy and on on one time with staff to help children and parents become comfortable with separation.

Separation

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
  • Parents in classroom early on
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

Handling Separation: From the Director

After drop off, children may observe parent departure or be redirected into individual activity or parallel play opportunity. Parents may call as often as they like and speak directly to children's teachers.
