Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Our philosophy of learning through play is a key component; yet, the school
is always evolving. There are several qualities unique to our school:

----- to provide a creative and challenging environment, both indoor and
out, which has been designed and scaled exclusively for preschool children;
to supply a wide variety of equipment and materials to enrich each child's
experience; and to encourage creativity as well as a sense of curiosity.

---- to capitalize on the immense value of free play by allowing children to
learn firsthand by exploration through play rather than through a structured,
traditional lesson.

---- to help each child build a positive self-image, develop unique
capabilities, refine large and small muscle coordination, and enjoy social
interactions with peers and adults.

---- to choose well-trained teachers who provide warmth, acceptance,
limits and intuitive understanding for each child.

---- to offer opportunities for appropriate language development,
encouraging and fostering the clear expression of ideas and feelings.

---- to give parents the opportunity to be actively involved in the child's
preschool experience, to observe the child's relationships with other children
and adults, and to associate with other supportive and interesting adults.

--- to provide a respectful and accepting environment for children of
diverse backgrounds and cultures, and to foster an environment which
emphasizes and celebrates conflict resolution.
