General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

SCC Preschool offers a balance of child-initiated play with teacher-led instruction in an environment which capitalizes on each child's natural curiosity and love of learning.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Our carefully planned curriculum is designed to meet each little one at his or her level of development. We provide a range of learning and play opportunities by involving children in small and large group interactions, individual instruction, and child-initiated activities. The weekly or monthly themes introduce children to such content areas as literacy and language arts, early mathematics, science, music and the arts, and the Bible. In addition, our preschoolers experience many enrichment opportunites including weekly praise time, field trips, special celebrations, and family events.

Handling Separation: From the Director

Separation anxiety is a natural and healthy expression of a child's dependence on his or her parent. Our experienced staff understands separation can be as difficult for the adults in a family as it is for the children. Each year, we host a Teacher Meet-and-Greet during which time parents and children attend an abbreviated class session with one another. Doing so helps ease the transition for anxious children and familiarizes parents with daily classroom routines.
