Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"The basic function of Pajaro Valley Children's Center is to provide safe and fun child care in a clean, comfortable, stimulating, and nurturing environment. The Center maintains an atmosphere that fosters security through a predictable pattern of daily activities while allowing children freedom of choice. Children are encourages to express individual thoughts and feelings and to accept responsibility for their own actions.
Toys and activities combine fun and learning with an emphasis on independent exploration. Curiosity, initiative, cooperation, imagination, creativity, and enjoyment are qualities fostered at PVCC. Limits are set and preventive measures exercised. An effort is made to maintain fair and thoughtful discipline while treating the children with respect. Each child is a unique individual whose happiness at the Center is important. While encouragement may be used, pressure is not placed on children to join in activities when they may not want to. Rates of growth and expansion are different for all. With the positive attitudes this center can instill in children, productive adults should be the result.
