Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"We believe that valuing children as individuals promotes self-esteem and fosters positive values. While children learn at their own pace and their own styles, learning among young children is best achieved through exploration and experience. Active learning takes advantages of children’s natural motivations, abilities, and interests. We recognize that children’s play is a highly supportive context for their developing processes. Play gives children opportunities to understand their environment, interact with others in social ways, express and control emotions, and develop their imagination and creativity.

We believe that a sound educational program for children addresses cognitive, social, emotional, motor, and speech development. Our program is based on developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education including NAEYC guidelines and emergent curriculum.

We value our staff for their vision, their delight in children, their skills and knowledge, and their commitment to families. We believe in attracting and retaining high-quality professionals as consistency and stability of staff promotes the healthy growth of children.

We believe that children draw on direct physical and social experience as well as culturally transmitted knowledge to construct their own understanding of the world around them. Creating partnership with families, based on mutual respect, insures that we meet the needs of the community being served and fosters continuity of care.
