Handling Separation: From the Director

We suggest that parents stay with their children for a while on the first day of school. We also suggest preparing for separation, by bringing your child to school to meet the teacher, staff, and see the classroom before the first day of school. Separation anxiety is normal for children 18 months to 5 years. Our staff are trained to deal with children who are anxious and these behaviors will diminish over time. Teachers are happy to give additional advice on how to make the child's transition to school easier.
