Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Quality Child Care means meeting the needs of the total child: physical; intellectual; social; and emotional development.

Quality Child Care necessitates acceptance of each child at his/her present level of development. A planned program of flexible age-appropriate activities provides children opportunity to make progress.

Each child is an unique being who has a right to his/her personal timetable.

Positive self-concept is crucial in affecting a child's entire life.

Children learn through interacting with other children, adults, and different environment.

A child is active in his/her own development (curious and exploring, seeking new knowledge and experience).

Children have the capacity to and should be given the opportunity to make choices.

Development of independence should be encouraged through environment, program, and relationships.

Setting and consistently enforcing necessary limits should elicit through reasoning, positive redirection, and acceptable attitudes and behaviors.

Children should learn that all work is honorable and be given the opportunity to gain satisfaction from performing tasks within the center that are commensurate with their level of growth and development.

Each child should be aware of and feel proud of his/her own culture and heritage.

Each child should develop positive attitudes toward people of other cultures.

To flourish, young children must be nurtured in an atmosphere of warm, personal relationships, in an enriched environment and given the opportunity for success.
