Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

We believe children learn best when they are in a secure environment. Socialization through drama and play are an equal part to balance the academic structure we offer. We teach respect, manners, say blessings with our meals and make a most Joyful Noise in learning and play!

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

We work in small groups of 4 to 5 children during curriculum time. We have a low child/teacher ratios and offer one on ones for children needing extra attention. We keep in close contact w/ the parents on progress of their child and schedule 2 formal conferences a year. October is for goal setting and in May for progress reporting of goals. Conferences are schedule when ever a parent or staff feel we need to look in depth with a child's needs and/or progress.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Predominantly teacher-led instruction). We believe that in addition to playing, children benefit from a structured, pedagogically sound way of approaching learning. We know the developmental milestones children should reach by Kindergarten and have a structured curriculum in place to ensure that all of our children learn to their utmost potential. We are Christian based center and believe in Jesus. This makes are center a well rounded and secure place for children to get their needs met.

A Typical Day

We have circle time to welcome everyone. We go over the days of the week, have story time and discuss our letter of the week. We then go to our structured curriculum time, and work in small groups doing , language, math/science and a daily art table with paint, markers, crayons and many other mediums to encourage creativity, self expression and develop small control. Snack, outdoor play, music and reading centers. We offer 5 programs from outside resources available ie., Soccer, Gymnastics, Dance, Music and Karate and offer YMCA swim lessons through the summer.

Handling Separation: From the Director

Talk with parent about separation and work closely with them to make transition as easy as possible for the child. Children are allowed to bring a comfort object i.e. favorite blanket or toy, or a picture that they may carry or sleep with during naptime. Parents are welcome to stay until they are comfortable leaving. Once the have left the classroom they are encouraged to stay on-sight, out of sight from their child until they are reassured their child has adjusted to the seperation. I call parents during the first hour of leaving their child to give a progress report and parents are welcome to call as often as they need to. We love them through
