Our Mission Growing Time Montessori Preschool' s mission is to provide a scientifically prepared environment that fosters academic excellence and a deep respect for children as unique individuals. Our Goals To develop a child's innate ability to learn through a prepared learning environment, active exploration and a caring, well-trained staff; To cultivate a life-long love of learning; To provide a warm and supportive community of students, teachers and parents; To support social and emotional development of a child and provide positive guidance and discipline; To awaken children's spirit and imagination; To help them develop kindness, courtesy and self-discipline that will allow them to become full members of society. Our Philosophy Our philosophy is based on Dr. Maria Montessori's theory of education. Dr. Montessori was an Italian physician who lived from 1870 to 1952, who saw much need for reform in the educational system of her day.

Her ideas were formulated after she had laboriously observed the needs of the individual child. In the early 1900s, Dr. Montessori formulated her work with mentally challenged children. In 1907, Dr. Montessori began using her teaching materials with normal children in a Rome tenement and discovered what she called "the Secret of Childhood."

Montessori education is based upon the unique idea that the child is a self-motivated active learner and the school is a scientifically prepared environment. Children love to be involved in self-directed purposeful activities. In a prepared environment of meaningful projects, along with the time to do these tasks at their own pace, children will learn faster and more easily.

At Growing Time Montessori Preschool, we strive to continue Dr. Maria Montessori's philosophy of education integrating other proven methods in Early Childhood Development.
