Day in the Life

General School Mission

Little Star Preschool offers a state licensed preschool and Pre-Kindergarten program. Our program is designed to make a positive contribution to your child's intellectual, social, emotional and physical development. A well planned and flexible program includes teacher-directed activities as well as time for individual exploration and free play. At Little Star Preschool the learning process is always in a happy and stimulating environment. Our professional, caring staff hold degrees in Early Childhood Education and meet state licensing requirements.

A Typical Day

There is structured and unstructured time in the program. Structured time is circle time (singing, stories, movement) and learning center time (teacher directed activities that are theme oriented). Unstructured time is indoor and outdoor playtime.

7:15-9:30 a.m.-- Free choice activities

9:30-10:15 a.m. -- Clean up, breakfast

10:15-10:45 -- Circle time (story, music, sharing & calendar)

10:45-12:00 -- Learning Centers (during learning centers children are divided into groups according to developmental skills, language abilities, and maturity). Children participate in teacher-directed activities based on weekly themes. Groups rotate from teacher to teacher for different lessons.

12:00-12:45 -- Outdoor play, second language, clean-up

12:45-1:45 p.m. -- Lunch, brush teeth, clean-up

1:45-3:45 p.m. -- Nap

3:45-4:15 p.m. -- Put away cots, snack

4:15-5:15 p.m. -- Outdoor play, clean-up

5:15-6:00 p.m. -- Free choice activities
