From the Director:

The pre-K class is broken into 3 groups based on development levels. These groups rotate between 3 teachers each day, thus experiencing the strengths of each teacher as well as different teaching styles and activities.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Discoveryland is a bilingual Christian Preschool and After School Care Program. We offer a planned but flexible curriculum designed to foster the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual development of each child as well as preparing them for kindergarten. We recognize the individual growth and development of each child and help them devlop self-control, tolerance and an understanding of individual differences.

A Typical Day

7:05-8:30 Arrival, free play

8:30-9:00 Circle: story, music & movement, pledge of allegiance, morning prayer, roll call and information regarding the day's activities.

9:00-12:00 Each teacher takes their class for outside play, free play in class rooms, class time which can include academic instruction arts & crafts and various other activities, snack is served at 10:00.

12:00-12:30 lunch

12:30-1:30 whole school outside

1:30-3:30 nap time/dismissal of part time students

3:30-4:00 wake up time and afternoon snack

4:00-6:00 Outside play, free play in the classroom, stories, arts and crafts.

The choice is up to the parent. Occasionally there have been recommendations made regarding a child's readiness or, lack-thereof, for kindergarten.
