General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

Day in the Life

General School Mission

At Discovery Isle, you can trust that your child will be treated as an individual learner and encouraged to appreciate the joy of learning.

We recognize that every child needs support, stimulation and encouragement within a positive educational environment. Our teachers create an atmosphere in which children are safe, nurtured and ready to absorb what the world has to offer.

We use the Nobel Learning Communities' Links to Learning curriculum. Links to Learning is an integrated series of programs for children ages 2 to 5 years of age, that engages the young learner's senses, mind and body. The components of each program are integrated to enhance learning in logical, fun and entertaining ways. Links to Learning also links parents to what their children are learning by providing regular communications and suggestions for how to continue the learning at home.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We take parent communications very seriously. We believe that when parents and teachers work as partners in a child's education, it makes the learning experience much richer and more meaningful to the child.

As part of this communications process, you'll receive a folder each month, containing an overview of the developmental skills your child worked on during the past month. You'll also receive samples of the work your child completed in class, as well as a letter outlining suggested activities you can do with your child to continue the learning at home.

In addition to sending out overviews and work samples each month, our teachers regularly post a weekly and daily skills list right outside the classroom. You'll also find a list of highlights and activities for the day.

Our combined efforts ensure that you'll have ample opportunity to work with your child, and become a vital link in his or her learning
