Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Teacher-Led

From the Director:

The key to teaching young children is to keep it fun, entertaining and stimulating. By doing so, you are able to keep their attention while opening the door to a vast amount of learning opportunities.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

As the director and teacher, I am aware of my responsibility to each student in my classroom. Everyone is unique in their learning style and pace. By keeping my classes small, I am able to see each child as an individual, not as a group. I know their abilities and am able to challenge those who are "excelling" and nurture those who are "behind".

Day in the Life

General School Mission

As director and teacher for twenty-five years, I have seen many children pass through my door. I have also had the opportunity to see them mature into happy and thriving primary school students, bright and confident secondary school students and successful adults with promising futures. I know that I have been a vital part of that chain by giving them the tools they needed to succeed at a young age.

A Typical Day

Every day is different at P.R.E.P. Learning Center. There is a different theme every week which allows us to build and expand the student's understanding. We spend half of our time in the classroom and the rest out in the community. I like to tell parents that first their child learns it and then he lives it. I teach where the need is; if all of the students have a strong grasp on the concept of "same and different" then we move onto sorting and basic math. If students are struggling, then we stay with that concept until it is mastered. By keeping my group small, I am able to recognize their needs, both emotional and cognitive, and I can meet those needs.
