"The Primary School offers a values based education which provides opportunities for leadership at all levels in order to prepare students for active participation in today's world. The school works in close partnership with parents to educate the whole child intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The core curriculum consists of language arts (reading, composition, grammar, and spelling), mathematics, social studies, science, religion, physical education, music, technology, art and Spanish. Library skills, leadership opportunities, and service learning projects are interwoven into the curriculum. All grade levels are team taught which allows for differentiated curriculum, and in pre-kindergarten through third grades for developmentally appropriate instruction delivered in small group settings. Specialists in music, art, Spanish, physical education, library skills and technology work in conjunction with each grade level teaching team. The teaching methodology at San Domenico places emphasis on active learning and process based projects. The Garden of Hope, the surrounding hills, and facilities such as the science laboratories, Hall of The Arts and Athletic Center provide a variety of unique learning opportunities. Field trips are used extensively to allow students direct experience and apply their skills. A wide variety of extracurricular activities are also available to students such as chess club, drama, chorus, basketball, triathlon, tennis, horseback riding, and instrumental music lessons.
