From the Director:

At Rockridge Little School each child's initiative and independence is recognized, celebrated, and supported. Children will have the opportunity to try out a number of structured learning activities, and have access to special materials that emphasize the use of all senses as they learn about the world around them through a variety of activities.

From the Director:

Lessons at Rockridge Little School are designed to teach children about, science, math, culture, nature, dance, music and language. Our goal is to give children an opportunity to try out new skills through play. We encourage students to plunge into hands-on learning in ways that reveal the wide world and how wonderfully intricate its workings are. We want them to curl up with a familiar book in the corner or have their teacher read their favorite story so many times that they both know it by heart.

We encourage children to explore, investigate, create and discover their passions. We believe that if they are treasured by the people they spend their time with and they are excited by the activities available to them, they will reach for the stars.

Our goal is to bring forth the passions and curiosity already within each child by introducing ideas and concepts that inspire. We draw from the experts in the field but we don't adhere rigidly to any single system.

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Two formal parent/teacher conferences each year. Blog and parent email list. Informal check-ins and conferences as needed. Parents are welcome to call with questions or feedback about their child.

Handling Separation: From the Director

We encourage parents to visit the school with their child before the school year begins. After school begins teachers support and encourage the children during their transition. If there are problems, the teachers communicate with parents to develop the best way to help the child.
