Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

We respect each child temperament and allow the child to move at their own pace.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

At Inch By Inch we believe that children learn best from being able to play, explore and experiment at their own pace in a fun and stimulating environment free from judgment. Music and art is a wonderful tool for teaching and we use a lot of it in our school. We embrace and respect each child's individual temperament.

A Typical Day

Everyday our school provides water play, painting, an art/cooking project, clay, music, a dramatic play area, a cozy book area, out door play, and manipulatives. We have a lunch together where we talk and I read them stories. We have a circle time every day where we sing, use puppets, share ideas and talk about our monthly science themes. At the end of the day we have our tea time and eat seasonal organic fruit.

Handling Separation: From the Director

I am open to a parent staying until the child feels secure at our school. Often, a child will cry for a short time and he/she is fine after that. If a child cries for a longer period of time, I would call the parent. I am very physical and loving with my students and often hold them and even rock them when they are sad. They enjoy sitting on my lap when they first arrive if they are feeling sad. I also have a loving assistant who is very nurturing to the children.
