"An infant’s day
7:20 a.m. — After checking your son in at the front desk, you find his favorite caretaker — who has a new toy to share.
8:15 a.m. — Your son shakes a rattle and holds a plush toy while he practices grasping, pinching and holding during special “small muscle development” activities.
9:00 a.m. — Now it’s time to exercise large muscles by crawling, cruising, rolling and rocking.
9:50 a.m. — Removing your bottle from the warming device, your son’s caretaker prepares to feed him a morning snack while other infants nap or play.
10:35 a.m. — Feeding time is through and your son’s eyes are getting heavy. He cuddles into his personal crib.
11:40 a.m. — It’s a perfect day for the playground. Your son giggles as the breeze ruffles his hair.
12:25 p.m. — Sharing stories and reading books develops early literacy and phonics skills. Your son listens raptly to “Goodnight Moon.”
1:30 p.m. — Time with soft feathers, hard blocks and squishy toys deepens his understanding of the world.
2:20 p.m. — Pursing lips and grasping for a bottle, it’s time for his afternoon feeding, then a restful snooze.
3:40 p.m. — Your son’s teacher helps him bop and sway with the other children during Music and Movement Time!
4:45 p.m. — You open the classroom door and see your son investigating his face in a wall mirror. Time to pack up — the end to another fun day at Tutor Time.
A toddler’s day
6:50 a.m. — After a brief hug, your daughter goes off to explore the Block Center.
8:30 a.m. — Morning Circle Time! The kids learn a familiar finger play, “Five little monkeys jumping on the bed!”
9:45 a.m. — It’s Active Investigation Time and your daughter runs her fingers through water and talks about how it feels. So many things to explore!
10:20 a.m. — Sharing stories encourages your daughter’s language development. Today she listens to her favorite story, “The Runaway Bunny.”
11:15 a.m. — Up, down. Up, down. Up, down. Your daughter climbs on the playground ladder.
12:00 p.m. — Your daughter is learning self-help and independence as she gets a cup and puts a sandwich on her plate.
12:40 p.m. — Your daughter and her classmates snuggle onto personal cots for some well-earned rest. Sweet dreams!
2:20 p.m. — All done sleeping? Your daughter quietly explores a book while others wake up.
3:15 p.m. — Outside again, she twirls and spins around the grassy area of the playground.
4:05 p.m. — Your daughter leads a Counting Parade around the room, counting the windows, chairs and doors. Who knew math could be so much fun?
4:40 p.m. — Your daughter dances along to “You Are My Sunshine.” She’s developing her large muscles and doesn’t even know it.
5:45 p.m. — When you walk in, she’s absorbed in her water investigation. But then she sees you and runs over. She has so much to share about her day!
A twaddler’s day
7:20 a.m. —Your daughter’s teacher kneels to greet her as you enter the classroom.
8:30 a.m. —Music plays in the background as your daughter waves a colorful streamer. Wave it high! Wave it low! Now wave it in a circle.
9:10 a.m. —Active Investigation Time! Your daughter explores color and texture as she spreads paint on a piece of sandpaper.
9:50 a.m. —Your daughter munches on a nutritious snack of fruit and crackers.
10:30 a.m. —The teacher shares her favorite story with the class.
10:50 a.m. —Outside, your daughter plucks blades of grass. Getting to know the natural world is an important part of the learning process.
12:05 p.m. —Your daughter smacks her lips as she finishes lunch. Soon, she’ll lay down for a restful afternoon nap.
2:50 p.m. —Books are fun to explore, especially after waking from a soothing nap.
3:10 p.m. —Outside! Your daughter and a playmate roll a ball back and forth.
4:00 p.m. —Your daughter’s shirt has four buttons and two pockets. Simple counting games develop fine motor skills and early math concepts.
4:35 p.m. —During Afternoon Circle Time, she claps and claps. She’s happy and she knows it!
5:50 p.m. —Your daughter is building a tower when you come in. She runs over, eager to tell you about her day
A prepper’s day
8:40 a.m. — One final chant with two last claps and Morning Circle Time is through.
9:20 a.m. — Clothespins, sequins, buttons and flannel make a gorgeous glued together masterpiece.
9:40 a.m. — Your daughter enjoys a delicious snack after finishing her creation. Time to refuel.
10:00 a.m. — Your daughter is deeply engaged in an age-appropriate computer game, learning about “up, over, down and above.”
10:30 a.m. — Your daughter pretends to swing a baseball bat. She is showing the class what she likes to do with her friends.
11:10 a.m. — On the playground, your daughter swings a real baseball bat before she races around the bases.
12:15 p.m. — Crunch - Your daughter enjoys lots of fresh veggies during lunch.
2:35 p.m. — After a refreshing nap, your daughter sits down with the teacher to listen to a story.
2:50 p.m. — One, two, three . . . cups at a table. Helping at snack time is your daughter’s classroom chore this week.
3:15 p.m. — A sandbox scavenger hunt! The class uncovers items the teacher “lost” in the sand.
3:25 p.m. — While holding a cardboard square, your daughter looks for objects with a similar shape.
4:20 p.m. — During Learning From Our World Time, your daughter investigates the properties of rocks and dirt using a magnifying glass.
4:55 p.m. — It’s time for “Follow the Leader” and your daughter is in the lead!
5:30 p.m. — Your daughter returns to cut, color and glue one more masterpiece.
6:25 p.m. — One more ribbon and her masterpiece is complete. She holds it up as you walk into the room. Perfect timing!
A preschooler’s day
8:00 a.m. — Your son pecks you on the cheek and rushes to join his friends in the Block Center.
9:15 a.m. — During Nature Circle Time, the group examines peacock, sea gull and ostrich feathers, then they draw a picture of their own feathery flock.
10:15 a.m. — Active Investigation Time! Your son “cooks” breakfast in the Pretend Center then heads for the Art Center.
10:40 a.m. — It’s a tricycle race! All the kids cheer each other on.
11:10 a.m. — In the Tutor Towne™ Village your son practices sorting and stacking as he delivers the Tutor Towne mail.
11:30 p.m. — How do muscles work? During Circle Time the class learns by doing an experiment with rubber bands. Then, they talk about muscles, fitness and health.
12:05 p.m. — A healthy, hearty lunch — YUM!
12:35 p.m. — Soothing sounds of waves and rain play in the background as your son naps.
3:15 p.m. — Today, your son shares a favorite book from home — “The Three Pigs” with a twist!
3:40 p.m. — Outside! Ladders, slides — what to choose?
4:25 p.m. — In the Language Center, your son dictates an original story while his teacher records it in his journal.
5:50 p.m. — “What did you learn today?” Your son can’t wait to tell you!
A pre-k day
7:25 a.m. — As you chat with the teacher, your daughter investigates oblong turquoise stones and green pinecones in the Nature Center.
9:10 a.m. — Math Smart Circle Time is fun - they weigh and measure a story book, a paint brush and a piece of rope and create a comparison graph.
10:20 a.m. — It’s Active Investigation Time! Your daughter chooses to make a necklace in the Art Center and dictate a story in the Language Center.
11:10 a.m. — In the Tutor Towne™ Village your daughter learns about geometry as she pretends to be a mechanic.
11:20 p.m. — What is responsibility? During Circle Time the class reads a book and explores this question.
12:00 p.m. — Yum! A nutritious lunch with friends.
1:20 p.m. — Soothing classical music plays in the background as your daughter naps on her cot.
3:00 p.m. — Sharing Our Stories at Afternoon Circle Time. Today, your daughter mimics a nature walk, stomping through tall grass and wading through mud.
3:40 p.m. — Slide, climb, jump — it’s playground time again!
4:20 p.m. — One... more... block! In the Block Center, your daughter’s tower reaches to the sky.
5:10 p.m. — Belting out a tune during Music and Movement Time.
5:40 p.m. — When you arrive to pick her up, your daughter bounces over to you, eager to tell you about her day."
