Pillars Academy teachers encourage preschoolers to be independent and confident individuals. Students learn early on that in order to be successful they need to be responsible. The children are provided with a variety of opportunities to build their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual skills. Small and large group activities instill a sense of community and belonging.

Three-year-old children express their creativity and develop small muscle skills by drawing, painting, and coloring; they expand large muscle skills by playing outdoors, skipping, running, hopping, and using tricycles. Social awareness is encouraged by allowing them to act out a role model using their imagination in dramatic play.

Pre-kindergartners are immersed in an environment where they are constantly challenged to master their phonics and math awareness by using hands-on manipulatives. They express their creativity by exploring teacher directed and child initiated activities. These activities stimulate and challenge their learning and give them the opportunity to grow in a well balanced academic and developmental curriculum.

Quran memorizing and incorporating the presence of our creator in daily lessons allows them to become God conscious individuals. Furthermore, preschoolers are introduced to technology and curriculum content through interactive media by attending computer lab twice a week to aide in learning and retention. Arabic language is encouraged throughout the day during indoor and outdoor activities.

Pillars Academy holds National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation.

General School Mission

Pillars Academy is a private Islamic school established by the Orange County Islamic Foundation (OCIF) in the year 2000. Our focus is to provide a holistic approach to education by addressing the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional needs of a child. Our curriculum stresses excellence in core academic subjects and in Islamic studies taught by caring and qualified teachers. Our students belong to a community of faith, including parents and teachers, which strengthen their identity as Muslims. Students are encouraged to be leaders and to strive to improve themselves, their families, their communities, and their environment.

Pillars Academy graduates are well rounded individuals who excel in core academics and posses skills to read, write, and speak not just English, but also Arabic as it is the language of the Quran. They emerge as God conscious leaders who seek the pleasure of their Creator through service to humanity

Our school’s philosophy is based on the “Developmental Approach:” teaching skills appropriate for the developmental age of each individual child. Learning such skills is best accomplished in an active learning program, which promotes experimentation, exploration, and discovery. We believe academic excellence is achieved by developing critical thinking skills that are reinforced through positive peer and adult interactions. Emphasis on Islamic values will help children develop a high self-esteem, a positive self-image, and an
Islamic identity.
