General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Our school is a play-based school, so we focus on the emotional and social development of the children. We believe that children's work is play, and that being a parent cooperative creates a nurturing environment for all members of our community of extended family.

A Typical Day

Basically there are 3 different schedules of indoor and outdoor time. Our school is split into 3 classrooms: 1 toddler, 1 younger preschool, 1 older preschool. The toddlers have their own play yard, and the preschoolers have a much larger play yard that they share. The preschool rooms are separated for half of the day to allow for smaller class sizes, but to also to allow the different ages to mix. Older children model behavior for the younger kids, and the older children learn how to be considerate of others with less mature skills.
