Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

From the Director:

Our integrated curriculum focuses on kindergarten readiness, as we blend Jewish values, traditions and holiday celebrations into our general early childhood program. In our interest-centered classrooms we encourage independence and self-direction, and provide a learning environment where children can develop their cognitive, sensory and motor skills. Through love, patience and our knowledge of child development we will guide your child through his/her first years while building a positive self-esteem, Jewish identity and joy for life.

A Typical Day

In our classrooms, comprised of learning centers, your child will enjoy actively exploring and making choices. Our curriculum provides opportunities for social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. Cognizant that every child learns differently, we use a multi-media approach to learning. Gan Tapuz preschoolers develop skills in research, inquiry and critical thinking through their daily activities. We give children the tools they need to assist in next step and kindergarten readiness.

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
  • Parents in classroom early on

Handling Separation: From the Director

Separation is an important part of our transition program. Parent and child enjoy a gentle and progressive separation in a small group setting. The experiences between September through December are specifically designed for children to attain a sense of trust with our friendly teachers and to facilitate an easy separation from parent. Beginning in January, the class continues two days per week. Understanding the various issues that parents with young children experience, a parent discussion group time is included in the day. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to share thoughts and become close as they continue to move together throughout the preschool years.
