Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"We acknowledge the children are strongly influenced throughout their lives by early life experiences. Our desire is to encourage a positive attitude in which learning is regarded as a continuous part of life. By developing a child’s self respect, self confidence and independence in a creative and supportive environment we help each child to reach out, to explore and to expand his or her abilities. We feel it is more important to cultivate motivation and a love of learning, than it is to impart information to children. We find it exciting to witness children discover that they have the power to acquire the skills necessary to achieve their goals.

Live Oak’s daily schedule and curriculum provide a wide variety of opportunities for child directed activities and are balanced with teacher directed activities. These opportunities allow a child to feel and experience him or herself as an important, unique individual. They allow children to develop responsible individual behavior and group interactions. In our curriculum we strive to maintain a healthy mixture of social, physical, language, cognitive, and creative art and music experiences. We want our activities to motivate children to learn, nurture a feeling of pride, learn about working with a group, and make school a fun place to be.

We respect each child as an individual with a unique pace of learning and growth. Our experience has proven that in a secure and loving atmosphere a child grows without fear of failure and with pride in what "I can do". As a result, individual growth and skill attainment are acquired eagerly and rapidly at the appropriate stage of development for each child.

Each child brings joy, a wonderful sense of awareness, and magic to us. In turn, we trust that our school brings joy and inspiration to each child.

Visitors are always welcome to come observe our school in action. Please call ahead.
