"We respect our ethic and cultural diversity and believe that our differences serve to enrich our children and help make them more globally aware. Our English speaking families are excited about their children’s exposure to other languages and customs. Our non-English speaking families understand that English is the language of instruction at our school. Their children are immersed in English and very quickly become bilingual. While we try to speak English when addressing the children, we are always grateful for the translating skills of working parents to help children when needed.
Most of our school’s written material and communication will come home to you in English (calendars, policies, field trip information…). While we understand that this may sometimes be difficult, it is the parents’ responsibility to read and understand school material. If something is unclear or you need help understanding, please find out if there are any other parents at Sunset who speak your language who can help you with the translations. If no one from Sunset can help you translate, please ask a friend or relative to help you.
