Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Montessori

From the Director:

Our curriculum focuses on ensuring that our students are well prepared for Kindergarten. The main body of our curriculum focuses on providing the students with strong pre-reading and pre-math skills, developing their fine motor and social skills, and introducing the world of art, music, science and gardening. Additionally, we strive to provide new and delicious meals for the children to experience. All meals and bread are homemade on site from scratch. Each day we have exploration station time. Exploration time is a students guided activity, where after explaining the rules involved with each activity, the students are allowed to self govern the available activities. Each exploration time consist of at least 4 stations. Exploration station subjects include art, music, manipulatives, writing, cutting, listening, and tactile. The activities in the stations change weekly, so that each child has the opportunity to experience the all activities thoroughly.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions
  • Parents in classroom early on

Handling Separation: From the Director

As each child handles the separation differently we work out with each parent the best strategy for their child and keep an open mind and stay flexible. Our goal is to help the children feel secure and supported and through this aid them in transitioning to preschool environment.
