Wind in the Willows serves children who are 3-5 years old. At Wind in the Willows we use a science-based student-driven method of teaching. We believe that children learn most effectively when they are actively participating in their learning environment.
Our structured curriculum uses developmentally appropriate practices that are based on the Creative Curriculum principles. These include promoting literacy, math, science, awareness in diversity, and social-emotional skills. In order to further children’s social awareness, we also integrate a curriculum called Second Step. Second Step is a curriculum that focuses on identifying feelings and developing ways to solve problems in a non-violent method.
Wind in the Willows believes that children are most likely to participate in their environment when they play an active role in designing it. It is for this reason that we follow the students’ lead and incorporate our goals within that lead.
