"The philosophy of Bayshore Child Care Services is based on
the belief that each child deserves an opportunity for total and
full development. The child comes to the program with certain
strengths to be expanded upon and reinforced. Those strengths are
based on learning and styles of the home and influenced by the
structure and cultural background of the child's family. We are
challenged to create a multicultural and multilingual
environment which will foster the physical, mental, emotional
and social development of all the children.
We want the child care experience to be an extension of the
home, providing a warm, accepting atmosphere for the child.
Learning in the classroom should compliment what the child is
learning at home.
Parents are the focal point for information, guidance and
decision-making for the child. A solid and positive foundation
regarding education can be achieved for each and every child in
the program with the advice of parents and by means of a
curriculum sensitive to the individual child.
Another important goal of the program is to provide parents
with support and information which is responsive specifically to
their needs and appropriate to their economic, cultural and
ethnic background. A whole range of parental support is available
in the form of information, discussion, counseling, resource and
referral, workshops, scheduled conferences and newsletters and
regular meetings. Ask the center director about books you can
Each center has books and materials on parenting and
children's books which are loaned to encourage reading and
provide help with child rearing issues and concerns."
