Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

We began San Jose Christian Preschool in Sept. of 2009 and added the Infant Center just this past October, 2013. We are an addition to the existing San Jose Christian School that has been serving JK through 8th since 1959. The entire school is very community orientated. Small enough to know most, and big enough to provide a true educational experience for all of the children and families.

From the Director:

We believe children can benefit from both free play and teacher led activities. The daily schedule has time for both of these approaches. We keep a small ratio to allow the teacher to observe individual children through out their day.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Children at this age are still developing in all areas. Because we know that children learn in uniques and different ways, we provide many types of activities. Children that appear to be developing outside the "normal" rate of progression will continue to engage in all the activities as they show interest. If it becomes clear that our program cannot meets the needs of a child, a consultation will occur with the director and parents to discuss options for their child.

Handling Separation: From the Director

We are very sensitive to the needs of both the child and the parents as they make their way through what can be very difficult for some. We will devise a strategy that will work for both child and parent.
