Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Co-op

From the Director:

"At CPPP, we own the building our preschool is in and the preschool is run entirely by our parents. Parent volunteers work on everything from gardening to this website. Below is an overview of the things we ask of our parents. Working in the Classroom The 2's class meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9AM to 11AM and parents attend with their child(ren). The 3's class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9AM to 11:30AM. Parents are required to work in the classroom once a week. The 4's class meets Monday through Thursday afternoons, 12:30PM to 3:00PM. Parents are required to work in the classroom once a week. Parent Education Meetings: Parents attend a mandatory monthly evening meeting. Fundraising: Parents must participate in two fundraising events per year. Enrollment in the CPPP e-scrip program and school-pop is also required. Work Party: Work parties are usually held on a weekend for 4 hours. This is where a number of maintenance jobs, such as painting, putting up a new play structure, etc are done. Parents are also able to do individual projects rather than participate in a work party if they wish. We ask that parents participate in 1 work party (or equivalent) equaling a total of 4 hours per year. Support Job: Parents are required to sign up for one position such as school librarian, emergency supplies coordinator, etc." Extracted from www.cppp.com

Curriculum & Teaching Approach

From the Director:

"CPPP provides the opportunity for children to: Develop social skills in cooperation, sharing friendship with others of their own age. Express themselves through music, dance, dramatic play and art. Expand their horizons through field trips, gardening, cooking, carpentry, art & crafts, writing and games." Extracted from www.cppp.com

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Founded in 1957, Campbell Parents' Participation Preschool (CPPP) offers an introduction to the learning experience and socialization.

In each class, the teacher and parents provide individual attention and guidance for each child. An atmosphere of security and acceptance encourages experimentation and development of self-confidence.

Parents work in the classroom under the direction of a credentialed teacher. Parents also assist with fundraising events, serve on various committees, share maintenance duties and establish school policies."
