A Typical Day

7:30-9:30 AM: Work Time
Children choose activities that interest them. They may work alone, with a teacher or in small groups.

9:30-9:45 AM: Group Time
Greeting, Montessori group lesson, calendar, and discussion of day's planned activities.

9:45-10:30 AM: Morning Snack
Snack is set out and the children individually help themselves. Children pour own juice and eat nutritious snack items, then clean their own place.

10:15-10:30 AM: Group Time
Theme presentations, sharing home experiences.

10:30-11:10 AM: Individual Work Time
Children choose materials, then work alone or with a teacher. Arts and crafts are set out or completed at this time. Small groups may be taken to the computer room.

11:10-12:00PM: Outdoor Play
Children choose own activities-swings, sand, tricycles and wheeled toys, water play, dramatic play, chalk, bubbles, etc.

12:00 PM: Morning Students Depart

12:00-1:00 PM: Lunch and Clean Up
Children eat their lunches, then prepare for nap/rest.

1:00-1:30 PM: Nap/Rest Period
All Children must rest on mats. A wide variety of soothing music or story selections is played for the children to listen to while resting.

11:30-2:45 PM: Quiet Work /Computers Older Children/non napper get up to quietly look at books or play in library. Small groups are taken to computer room. Nappers get up as they wake and may then participate in library activities or the computer room.

2:00-2:30 PM: Afternoon Students Arrive

2:45-3:00 PM: Wake Up/Clean Up
Sleepers are gently wakened. Children put sheets and mats away in baskets and cubbies

3:00-4:00 PM: Afternoon Work Time
Children choose materials according to individual interest.

4:00-4:15 PM: Afternoon Snack

4:15-4:30 PM: Group Time
Songs, finger plays, review of days and activities. Theme discussions.

4:30-5:30 PM: Outdoor Play

5:30-6:00 PM: Story Time
Library books are read to the children
