"Our mission is to empower children and their families to maximize their full potential through opportunities for growth and change.
The vision of the agency is to establish children and their families as our nation's top priority.
The primary outcome of PCAC Head Start educational program is social competence for children. It is the program’s belief that social competence is achieved through a strong and sound developmental approach for 0 – 5 year old children. The program includes opportunities for children to work and play individually, in small groups, and in large groups. The program is child-centered, and child-initiated activities are balanced with teacher-directed activities.
PCAC’s educational program is comprehensive and is based on developmentally appropriate practices that are both age-appropriate and individually appropriate. The program is designed to focus on the uniqueness of each child in order to meet his/her individual needs, as well as the educational priorities of the community. It is the expectation that upon leaving the Head Start program, each child will have participated in a challenging, child-centered environment, enriched with opportunities to learn to function effectively for success in child care, preschool and public school, and in every day life. It is the mission of the education service area of PCAC to promote educational excellence and success for all children, families and staff.
It is our goal that all children and families make a smooth transition into child care, preschool and Kindergarten. Both the Early Head Start and the center base program lay a strong foundation for success in child care, preschool and elementary school, and for later learning.
