From the Director:

We believe children learn best through hands on experiance. Kindergarteners and Preschoolers are lineless experimenters and investigators. They learn through playful interaction with their environment. Teachers create an environment through learning centers, where the children are able to think creatively, where learning basic concepts and emerging language is encouraged. Building students' faith in Jesus Christ and understanding His love is an important part of our program at Victorious. Designated times for Bible stories and worship will be a part of the weekly kindergarten crriculum. Biblical principles will also be shared as opportunity presents. Our Preschool curriculum is theme based with the classrooms set up in learning centers which allow children to explore on their own. Typically, there is a different theme introduced every week covering a wide range of topics. Each center is different and provides a variety of oppourtunities for the children. There are usually 4-6 children permitted to play in a center at a time. The children learn how to choose the center where they want to work. Some of the centers your child will play in are: art, manipulatives (puzzels, Legos, strining beads, sorting, etc.), blocks, language and listening books, sensory and science and dramatic polay. Music and Movement, Story Time, Faith/Bible Lessons and outside play are times the children play together as one group. Our cirriculum for our Kindergarteners literacy is the Houghton-Mifflin Reading Program, which incorporates teaching pre-reading and reading, comprehension, phonics and writing skills while accomodating to the different learning syles found in a classroom of students. For Kindergarten mathematices, Victorious will be implimenting the Everyday Mathematics curriculum, among other supplemental materials, to enforce math skills. Everyday Mathematics is an experiance-based math curriculum that encourages higher level thinking in young students. Learning Socali Studies and Science concepts through dicovery is a vital part of Kindergartner's development in learning about the world aruond them. Although some content will be integrated into other parts of the curriculum, opportunities for theme activities in these academioc area will be provided throughout the school year.
