Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

We encourage children to ask questions - to make observations. As teachers, we endeavor to observe our students to better help us to teach to their needs.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Our teachers make regular observations and endeavor to tailor their curriculum to meet the needs of each student to the best of their ability.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Our school philosophy is that every child is uniquely created by God. We teach to the whole child - physical, emotional and spiritual. We endeavor to create a learning atmosphere where the children are secure and can grow and develop in each of these areas.

A Typical Day

We combine classes in the early morning. Breakfast is provided. There is Free Choice play and some outside time. Classes separate at 9:00 a.m. Our structured learning time is from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Children bring their own lunches and we have lunch between 11:30 - 12:00. There is a bit of unstructured time after lunch and then a nap period. After nap and afternoon snack is provided. The rest of the day is structured between large group, small group and some outside play time. Classes combine again at about 4:30 p.m.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

There are two times during the year that the teachers meet with parents for a Parent/Teacher Conference. Teachers communicate through a monthly newsletter as to what is going on within the classroom. If there is a need, teachers will request to speak with a parent regarding specific situations.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Parents in classroom early on
